Working on my other project

If you’ve put a watch on my stories you know I’ve been updating the Naruto stuff instead of the Mass Effect stuff.

Two reasons for that. I’m still in the process of doing the research on the Drell, and a book I ordered is held up due to utter fucking bullshit so I’m forced to wait.

The other reason is that the next chapter of TWCD is important, and I’m not willing to put together a bunch of filler scenes and wonky dialogue when I’m not sure how I want it to feel. I want to get it right, and until I can I’m not just happy with a token effort to advance the story. I’ve done that a couple of places in both OSABC and ATTWN and while it got the job done it weakened the overall result.

I’m aware many of you aren’t fans of Naruto, and even if you were most people gave up when the series creator fucked it up waaaay worse than the ending of ME3.  So don’t think you have to read or review my stuff if it isn’t your cup of tea.

That being said, all interest in the work is appreciated. The DLP Gang have a particularly dim view of most Naruto fics and I am going to get a positive reaction out of them to show them the fandom isn’t dead yet as long as people with a brain write it instead of yaoi-obsessed  idiots with a fixation on mPreg and foxy accessories.

In other news, my back is doing better, my mom’s hair is finally coming back in, work is still crazy but is doing better and nothing horrible has happened to me (yet) (knock on wood). It’s a very crappy time of the year for me, but I’ll be okay.

  1. Glad to hear about you and your mother doing well man, we can wait for you to get it right since next chapter and the one after Ilium are probably going to be the most important 2 chapters of TWCD, so we can wait. I personally don’t give a fuck about Naruto either way, so I can’t speak to those stories, but if it relaxes you, it’s good. Take care as always.

  2. Take all the time you need. I can more then understand wanting to get a chapter right if it is truly important.

I never got into Naruto, so I’m sorry to say I can’t really be of much help there. Still, I must say I’m rather curious now as to how Anyone could Ever fuck up an ending worse then ME3?

Hope all continues to go well for you. Take care.

  3. Fortunately for me, Naruto is my next favorite fandom for fanfiction. The actual show is god fucking awful, but the lore behind everything is expansive and ripe for someone who is better at writing than Kishimoto to take advantage of.

That being said, I do want to warn against getting too heavily invested in multiple projects. I’ve seen many fanfic authors burn themselves out because they have too many things to update to ever actually finish something. Obviously this is just a hobby for you and as your own creative outlet you’re free to do as you wish, but I thought i’d voice my concerns just to have it out there.

  4. I’m afraid my understanding of Naruto is limited to “it’s Japanese”. I tried reading one of the stories and was lost completely. That aside, take your time. I’m happy things are improving for your mother and back.

  5. I can see why the next chapter is very important. If this is the Ilium arc, it sets up the eventual reunion between Shepard and Liara. That’s going to be emotionally intense even if it ends up happening while they’re all beating up on Tetrimus. It also sets up the path for Tela Vasir, and the Shadow Broker’s eventual demise.

And it sets up a lot of other things, I’m sure. You have the skill to keep these multiple plots interweaving with each other, even if some of them are more tangential than others.

  6. Glad to hear you’re doing well. The chapters on Omega were great, so I’m glad to learn that you’re taking your time to write the next one, even if I would prefer to have it right now.

I like Naruto, so I’m glad you’re going back to it (I loved your piece with the Three Sannin, so I’m looking forward to it). And even if Kishomoto went batshit insane at the end, it was the pretext to big fights, which were the only reason I was reading at the end.
