How fucked would the galaxy be, had Rachel Florez succeeded in turning Shepard into Rachel v1.1?

Assuming, that the Sovereign didn’t a**-rape/was stopped/managed to be defeated first?

How more screwed would the galaxy have been, with Shepard joining the original three-headed Cerberus; of Illusive Man, Iron General and Shadow Hand?

It had been mentioned by Rachel, that she had been grooming Shepard as her replacement.

So, on the scale of 1 to FUCK; how more grimdarker would the universe gotten? (Assuming the Reapers hadn’t come to wreck the party)

That’s a very interesting idea and it leads to the fact that the world building of the premiseverse is so big that it leads to countless ‘what if’ scenarios, like what if Liara refused to assist TIM in retrieving Shepard’s body after the destruction of the first Normandy (would she have genuinely been killed by the AIS leaving Shepard to really wake up in a Cerberus lab with no friendly faces and no chance of a reunion?).

Not that I’m putting any pressure on anyone but it would be interesting to see a one-shot chapter where Shepard does become Rachel’s successor- this could be pulled off by going back to Shepard’s first appearance in this story with the attack on the pirate ship- this time instead of mercy killing the pirate’s daughter she tries futilely to save her with medigel. The mother proves she’s a dirtbag and goes for a gun while Shep’s working and shoots her leaving her so badly wounded she is disqualified from Spectre candidacy. Maybe Shepard could wake up in a hospital bed with Rachel telling her that she’s been so badly wounded that the SA want to dispose of her and uses her dispondancy to woo her into her ‘off the books organisation’.
On a related note, in canon it seemed to me that Anderson presented Shepard as a Spectre candidate only to get her away from Delacor and other manipulations. I’ve long wondered what his true intentions were for putting her name forwards. Due to her damaged mental state(essentially suicidal), controversial reputation and other issues she wasn’t the best candidate and it didn’t look or sound like Anderson was thinking about Shepard’s best interests by putting so much more pressure and exposing her to so much scrutiny the way he did.

I might write that up as a one shot if my back stops trying to kill me.

Jack Harper; Illusive Man(Economy) – Rob the Alien

Rachel Florez; Iron General(Military) – Kill the Alien

Richard Williams; Shadow Hand(Tech) – Experiment on the Alien

Sara Shepard; The Butcher(Crazyness) – Skin them alive, set them on fire, violate them and sell their meat back as beef jerky, above market price.

I wouldn’t want to come of as unreasonable critic of Sara Shepard but the MC from the beginning of the series was a complete and utter mess of contradictions, insecurities and budging paranoia that her CO was out to get her.

Iron Cell led by Shepard would only make an even greater mess of the galaxy than it was at the start of the series.

While I consider myself a fan of Rachel Florez I don’t really think she would be able to draw Shepard’s full potential as an officer. Let’s just reminiscent how much work Ahern had to do to get through Shepard’s thick skull. She had whole armor plates made of stupid, arrogance, short-sightedness covering her intelligence, or maybe wisdom would be a better word here.

A crippled and even more bitter Shepard, leading the Iron could end only tears and misery. Hell, I think TIM would have had her killed in short order. That’s if she didn’t manage that on her own. Leng and Pel would have a field day with her.

On the other hand maybe she would fit right in and find a place for herself in Cerberus? Who knows, maybe she would do a better job than we expect…

Shepard’s role in Cerberus under Rachel would not have been one of leadership, but as executioner. Rachel was smart enough to realize Shepard’s flaws and limits, and would have used her in a role where such narrowminded thinking and ignorance would have been armor against being turned back against Cerberus.

As her eventual successor, when Rachel got too old to lead…I’m unsure what would have happened, as had things not gotten derailed by Harper, Richard Williams was about done with his use for both Jack and Rachel and pre-death Shepard would have had no chance of defeating him.

Rachel was not entirely sane after the death of her daughter and the issues about her separation from her son and husband. Much of the “why” behind why she acted that way will come out in Lions. Eventually.

Not surprising. Though I suspected it would be a commissar who did her in.

That’s even more sad. Being reduced or merely relegated(she did pretty much just this for the SA) to the role of attack dog – bad pun there.

What will really take the sadface to the max is the fact that Shepard would have been happy (or what she thought was happy) in such a scenario — Florez had even been working on basically brainwashing several people as possible sexual partners for Shepard.

There are times that I write this and feel an urge to skip to the part in OSABC where every asshole dies in fire and shotgun blasts.
