    1. I’ll reply with a PM I sent to someone else inquiring about this pairing.

      Remember: AU. VERY AU.

Canon Jack is an idiot, and Canon Morinth a monster of the cheapest type (really? Young white girl, Bioware? REALLY?)

My Morinth considers herself a sort of Justicar. She preys on murderers, rapists, conmen. She also hunts other ardat-yakshi. She hates criminals, but hates even worse those that warp the innocent. Her Ardat-Yakshi index is different that in canon, she’s just above the point where AY effects kick in during a meld, so it’s not instant death, just .. weakness, ravaging the nervous system, etc.

Jack is a Cerberus experiment of a cell that went ‘rogue’ but actually got overriding orders from Richard Williams. She remembers escpaing when Cerberus started fighting each other, and a big black man wearing a Cerberus logo taking her and putting her on a shuttle.

      (Pel, by the way).

She’s been caught up in a lot, but she had (in my version) a loyal pair of friends who were in kind of a threeway romance thing. They died trying to protect her from batarian slavers, and the slavers tortured her until (lol) a Cerberus raiding cell attacked them and set her free, not knowing who she was. So she’s conflicted about Cerberus, and has been hunting slavers. She got so good the Blue Suns captured her and locked her up to stop her little crusade.

Her biotics and the alterations Cerberus experimented with on her are strong enough to let her meld with Morinth and not die, although there’s an element of danger, draining and even possible nerve damage. She lives on the edge like Morinth. she hates criminals. Her childhood hero was Commander Shepard.

They come together becaues they feel isolated from all the normal people . Morinth is torn up and hurting about killing her mother, Jack is confused and conflicted over if she’s in this for the right reasons.

I do not expect it will be everyone’s cup of tea, just like I suspect Joker/Tali isn’t. But I like experimentation and I think I can not only make it work but make both characters into something better than in canon.

Although, in the case of Morinth, I could hardly do worse.

  1. I somehow missed this :/ I would have have thought you would go with Miranda/Jack since developing a relationship between them would be a lot more interesting – and I really want to read Miranda/Jack pairing within such a big retelling(I don’t think Melara did it in hers or maybe I’m not recalling if she did). Most of the slash fics for her are more slice-of-life oriented.

But, I guess if you have made up your mind and already started working on Morinth/Jack then there’s no helping it 🙁

Anyway, good luck on the next chapter. May you not hit any writers block 🙂

    1. I guess the problem I’ve had from the beginning with Miranda/Jack is I have problems making it work with the changes I’ve already made to both Miranda and Jack. Jack’s hostility to Cerberus, and Miranda’s confusion about her origins and place in society, are both muted for other elements, which is the main draw between them.

      1. Ah, guess it can’t be helped if its not gonna gel with the changes. Well, someone’s bound to write it sometime.

        Eagerly awaiting the next chapter.
